E. R. Barr's Blog

People have been wondering where Conor was traveling as he floated down the Mississippi at the end of the novel ROAN.  You remember--he was supposed to be going to Ireland.  As a matter of fact, I have it on good authority that he hopped an Aer Lingus plane to Shannon Airport and is going to visit someone that Abbot Malachy recommended--some guy named Tom Shandy who lives somewhere on the west coast of Ireland.

Until I get some more news about Conor, I thought I would just fill up the backfround on some of the stories and music in the novel.  Irish music is fantastically cool and I ran across a beautiful example of this on YouTube.  This has got to be the best commercial for Irish whiskey, EVAH!

As you watch and listen, you might remember what Conor once said:  "Ah, Ireland!  Where all the women are beautiful and all the songs are sad."

Thanks for sharing! Looking forward to following Conor's journey in Volume 2. Does the reference to beautiful woman and sad songs have anything to do with the loss and sorrow that Conor carries in his heart?
